National Soil Survey

We are ...
National Soil Survey is an independent, privately owned research and consultancy organisation specialising in soil health, soil survey and mapping, environmental protection, ecological monitoring, agriculture, Geographic Information Systems (GIS) and Earth Observation
For more than 10 years, we have supported farmers, investors, planning and design teams, public institutions and private partners. Our team brings together soil specialists with more than 30 years of professional experience in soil investigation, mapping, soil resource assessment, monitoring networks, agroecology and the sustainable management of land and biodiversity.
Our name reflects both our expertise and our mission. We regard soil as an irreplaceable resource whose value extends from individual farms and local communities to Europe and the wider world. Its protection and sustainable management are central to our work.
We combine established field methods and laboratory analysis with digital soil mapping, satellite data, GIS and spatial modelling. This integrated approach enables us to provide evidence-based assessments and practical recommendations tailored to each site and project.
Our specialists have worked in leading Bulgarian environmental and agricultural institutions, including the Executive Environment Agency, Institute of Soil Science and the former Executive Agency for Soil Resources.
We build long-term partnerships and provide support throughout each project—from initial soil investigation and analysis to mapping, land suitability assessment and recommendations for improving soil health and land management.
Behind every project is a simple commitment: to help safeguard the soils that sustain our food, landscapes and communities, so that future generations can continue to benefit from them.

We focus on ...
We focus on protecting soil health, understanding environmental pressures and supporting the sustainable management of land and ecosystems.
By combining field surveys, laboratory analysis, soil monitoring networks, GIS and Earth Observation, we assess soil properties, spatial variability, contamination and degradation. We turn these findings into practical recommendations for agriculture, environmental protection and land-use planning.
Our work also supports biodiversity conservation, ecosystem services assessment and the monitoring of changes over time. We help our partners make informed decisions, identify priorities for restoration and evaluate the results of management practices—with soil health and long-term environmental resilience at the heart of our approach.
